Bojo to start new career at UHS Delaware Valley

CALLICOON - Rolland “Boomer” Bojo, Jr., an 18-year veteran of Garnet Health Medical Center team, will be leaving on June 11 to take over as President and CEO of United Health Services Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton.

‘Boomer,' as he is best known, made a name for himself as VP of the Grover Hermann Division of Garnet Health in Callicoon.

He is also VP of Special Projects.

Grover Hermann has earned high praise, ranking in the top 20 percent in the country of facilities its size for the quality of healthcare it provides.

“It's bittersweet,” Boomer said of having to leave his friends and colleagues from Garnet. “I would really like to thank the residents of Sullivan County who made me feel so welcome. They accepted me with open arms and made me feel like I'm really making a difference.”

Boomer also credited Garnet President and CEO Jonathan Schiller as “an awesome mentor.

“This [his new job] is something I feel I have been preparing for for the past 18 years.”

Boomer actually started his healthcare career at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, where he worked for 10 years.

“It's similar to Callicoon, just a little larger,” Boomer said. “It is a critical access hospital that has in-patient services, an addiction treatment program, cardiac rehab, outpatient services as well as occupational and physical therapy.”

UHS Delaware Valley Hospital also has satellite offices in Roscoe, Downsville and two in Walton.

Boomer is also deeply involved in his hometown, which is Hancock.

He has been a long-time fireman and past chief of the Hancock Fire Dept., and his two sons, Blaise, 23, and Cullen, 20, are also both in the fire service.

He and his wife, Laura, have been married for the past 26 years.

“I'm going back home,” he said.
