THOMPSON — Thompson Town Councilmember Scott Mace, who is currently running for Town Supervisor, was arrested by State Police on May 10, according to New York State Police Public Information Officer Steven Nevel.

Nevel said that Mace was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (CPCS) in the fourth degree, which is a class C felony.

According to Nevel, Mace was also charged with “Falsifying Business Records” in the first degree, also a felony, as well as misdemeanor Petit Larceny.

According to officials at Thompson Town Court, Mace appeared before the Honorable Sharon Jankiewicz on May 12, but Jankiewicz had to recuse herself. The case will be transferred to another court, the location and date of which are still to be determined.

No further information about the case or specific details concerning the allegations against Mace were available as of presstime on Monday.

Mace has been a councilmember in the Town of Thompson for the last 10 years and recently announced his bid to challenge incumbent Town Supervisor Bill Rieber in this November's election.

Mace is also the former owner of the Rock Hill Pharmacy in Cardinal Square in Rock Hill.

The Democrat reached out to Mace for comment but did not receive a response by presstime.

The Democrat also reached out to Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan and received no response.

A regular meeting of the Thompson Town Board takes place tonight, May 18. This story will be updated as it develops.
