MONTICELLO — Acting District Attorney Meagan Galligan, left, is sworn into office as Sullivan County District Attorney (DA) by County Clerk Russell Reeves, right. Galligan, a Democrat, was elected to the position in November after being appointed as Acting DA by former DA Jim Farrell who became County Court Judge. She will become the first female DA in county history.
“It is an honor to be sworn into the Office of Sullivan County District Attorney, to lead our law enforcement community and to work collaboratively with members of our community in the interest of public safety,” said Galligan.
“It was my honor to swear in Meagan Galligan as the first woman elected to the position of Sullivan County District Attorney,” Reeves said. “This will remain a memorable milestone in Sullivan County history.
DA Galligan brings impressive credentials, and I look forward to her ensuring the safety, security and justice for our county residents.”
