MOUNTAINDALE — On November 21 at 6:15 a.m. State Police in Wurtsboro responded to a single vehicle crash on County Route 56 in Mountaindale. Troopers arrived at the scene and observed a 2011 Dodge Avenger lodged between several large trees.
According to the New York State Police, an initial investigation revealed that the Avenger was traveling south on County Route 56 at a high rate of speed when it crested a hill and lost control causing the vehicle to cross both lanes and leave the roadway on the west shoulder.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage. The operator of the vehicle, John A. Delgado, age 21, was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The New York State Police say they were assisted at the scene by the Wurtsboro Fire Department. An investigation is ongoing.
