THOMPSON — State Police in Wurtsboro responded to a serious two-vehicle crash State Route 17 in the town of Thompson west of exit 107 on Tuesday around 2:15 p.m.

An investigation revealed that a 1988 Lexus SC400, traveling east, was stopped in the left lane. A 2019 Honda Civic also traveling east in the same lane did not realize that the Lexus is completely stopped. The operator of the Lexus, Lee H. Cone Jr, age 61 of Ellenville and an unidentified female passenger were both injured.

It was originally thought that Cone succumbed to his injuries, but he received medical assistance from Hatzalah EMS and they were able to obtain a pulse. He was transported to Garnett Medical Center in critical condition.

The unidentified female was transported by medivac to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.
