Possible COVID exposure in Highland

Posted

ELDRED -- The Town of Highland closed their offices to the public earlier this week due to a possible COVID-19 exposure.

A person who visited the Town Hall last week presented symptoms over the weekend. Town of Highland Supervisor Jeff Haas said the individual, who is still awaiting results of a COVID test, is already feeling much better, and no one else associated with the town who may have come in contact with the individual have shown any symptoms.

According to Haas, town offices have been closed out of an abundance of caution, and the Town Hall was sprayed with a disinfectant mist.

As of presstime yesterday, town offices were still closed to the public while they continue to wait for the COVID-19 test results of the individual who presented symptoms.

Town officials told the Democrat that regardless of the individual's test results, the town clerk's office would remain closed to the public for the next 10 days. However, clerk's office staff will still be working remotely.

As of presstime, all Town offices can be contacted at their regular numbers, which are listed on the Town of Highland's website, with in person business conducted by appointment only (with the exception of the Town Clerk's office). The Town reminds everyone to wear a mask, maintain social distance, and wash hands frequently.

You can check their website and Facebook page for more updates.
