Boy struck by vehicle in Yulan

YULAN — Emergency personnel shut down a section of Airport Road in the Town of Highland on Monday afternoon after responding to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

According to New York State Police Public Information Officer, Steve Nevel, a 7-year-old male child was struck by a pickup truck at 199 Airport Road around 2:27 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

A landing zone was set up at the Yulan ballfield and the child was medevaced by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. According to Nevel, he is in stable condition.

The incident is currently under investigation. According to Nevel, the driver of the pickup truck has not been charged with anything at this time.

Besides the New York State Police, the Yulan Fire Department was also on the scene.
