Joseph T. Rieping, Jr. of Scotia, NY recently passed away at home with his family. He was 80 years old. Joseph was born in Jersey City on December 21, 1943. As a toddler, he and his family moved to Roscoe, NY and he helped run Rieping’s Lodge. He was involved in the Tet Offensive in Vietnam as he was in the Army at DaNang. After his service, he worked in the aviation industry as a jet engine mechanic for American Airlines. He avidly restored antique phonographs as a hobby. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rae Ann Rieping and his daughter, Esther Anastasia. His eldest daughter, Leah Rieping, predeceased him. He is also survived by his sister, Dina Rieping. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Obernburg, NY. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
