Fallsburg Man Arrested On Felony Weapon Charge

SULLIVAN COUNTY — Monticello Police arrested Jeremiah D. Fannings, age 22, of Fallsburg, on Friday 7/5/19. Fannings was charged with Felony Criminal Possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree and also misdemeanor criminal possession of marihuana in the 5th degree.

At 12:00 AM this morning, Monticello Police Officer George Mendez was conducting a patrol of the Monticello Housing Authority apartment complex located at Evergreen Drive in the Village of Monticello, when he observed in a parking lot that there was a group of subjects involved in a dispute. When PO Mendez entered the parking lot to investigate, Fannings who was one of the subjects in the dispute, took off running from the officer through a wooded area. PO Mendez was able to locate Fannings a few minutes later on Pine Street. Upon further investigation, Fannings was found to be in possession of a loaded Browning .380 caliber handgun and also 25 grams of marihuana on his person.

Fannings was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $50,000.00 pending further court action.
