Mysteryland returning for third time this June

Posted

BETHEL — After a public hearing last week featuring noise complaints from three property owners along Hurd Road, the Bethel Planning Board approved the site plan for next year's Mysteryland.

The 2016 version of the electronic music festival will again be held at Bethel Woods - but no longer on Memorial Day weekend.

Possibly in part not to compete against a similar festival at the same time in New Jersey, Mysteryland is being shifted to June 10-12.

Comment from Mysteryland promoters could not be obtained by press time.

In the meantime, Code Enforcement Officer BJ Gettel said the complainants were informed that they can bring their concerns to the town board, which issues noise permits.

“It's not something the planning board can take action on,” she explained.

Prior to the 2015 outing, Mysteryland officials conducted studies and adjusted speaker positions & volume levels to address noise issues raised during the inaugural 2014 event.
