Tusten talks town maintenance

NARROWSBURG — The recent Tusten Town Board meeting discussed town maintenance and sustainability. The agenda items included reconfiguring the solar pilot discussion, to new LED lights for the street lights and better recycling habits.

While many of these discussions were tabled until next month's meeting, it does show the town is trying to move towards better practices concerning energy.

There were also motions on grants to maintain the Town Hall in good working condition. There was some movement of town funding and lastly a discussion on security and a Halloween curfew.

A discussion on modifying the original Solar Agreement for the Town of Narrowsburg was tabled until next month's meeting. A motion passed to move all street lights to NYSEG Solar. The goal is ultimately for all street lights in Narrowsburgh to run on solar energy. The motion to make the streetlights run on LED bulbs was tabled until next week while the town looks further into the information presented.

Recycling was also a topic of discussion. A motion passed to maximize all recycling procedures throughout all public and town events held within the Town of Tusten.

Supervisor Carol Ropke-Wingert wrote and submitted a SAM Grant to redo the roof of Town Hall after it was announced this week that the Town of Tusten was awarded $75,000. A motion passed to write a JCAP grant for a magnetometer and wand, robes, a court seal, label maker, and file cabinets for the Town of Tusten.

Chorba Consulting will be paid $364.87 from the general account and $593.92 from the sewer account. Chorba Consulting is an IT company from Beach Lake, Pennsylvania. They specialize in correcting computers, software and networks. The motion to pay them passed.

There will be a change to the Highway fund. The motion to change funding for the Highways was passed and resolved.

The Town Board is looking into installing Security Cameras, it will be discussed further next meeting. There were a few street signs stolen and reported to the Police along the roads in Tusten.

As for Halloween there will be a curfew for all under the age of 18, they must be accompanied by an adult between the times of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on October 30 and 31. Lastly, there will be a demotion and removal of the abandoned house on Crawford Road, as well as the two vehicles on the premise.

Many motions of the meeting were directed towards bettering the Town of Tusten. Much of the agenda from this meeting will be further discussed on next month's meeting. There will be a public hearing on Monday, October 30 and 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
