ELLENVILLE — If you’ve been looking for a reason to get out of the house, grab some dinner and spend an evening laughing, Tony & Nick’s in Ellenville will be serving up something a little different on Saturday, September 26.

Corner Store Comedy will bring “A Night of Comedy” to Tony & Nick’s for an 18+ evening featuring a lineup of comedians from the Hudson Valley and beyond. The show begins at 8 p.m., with dinner service beginning at 4 p.m. and seating for the comedy show at 7 p.m.

Hosted by comedian and Corner Store Comedy owner Keith Prince, the evening will feature performances from Eytan Kurland, Geordan Mallas and Sara Shipley, with Shawn Barnes headlining the show. The event is designed to be more than simply sitting in a room watching comedians take turns at a microphone. With dinner, drinks and live comedy all under one roof, Tony & Nick’s provides the setting for a night out with friends, a date night, or simply an excuse to leave the couch for a few hours.

Corner Store Comedy, a Sullivan County-based comedy troupe, has been working to bring live comedy to venues throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills, showcasing both established performers and comedians who are making their mark on the local comedy scene.

For Prince, bringing comedy into local businesses is part of what makes these shows special. “Comedy works best when you get people together in a room and let them have a good time,” Prince said. “We want people to come out, have dinner, have a few drinks, laugh at some jokes and forget about everything else for a couple of hours.”

Tickets are $15 in advance through Eventbrite or $20 at the door, giving those who purchase ahead of time a chance to save $5. (*Dinner not included with price of admission.) And considering the unpredictable nature of comedy, there is only one guarantee: nobody knows exactly what is going to happen once the microphones turn on.

So come hungry. Come thirsty. Bring a friend. Bring a date. Bring the person who keeps saying they need to get out more. Just don’t bring the kids.

“A Night of Comedy” takes place Saturday, September 26 at Tony & Nick’s, 162 Canal St, Ellenville, with the show beginning at 8 p.m. The event is 18+. For tickets and additional information, look for Corner Store Comedy on social media or find the event through Eventbrite.
