In Sullivan County, neighbors have a long history of looking out for one another. Whether it is helping a family after a fire, rallying around a local cause or showing up when someone is facing a difficult time, our community has always understood the importance of lending a hand. Ride 2 Survive is a powerful example of that spirit in action.

Cancer touches nearly every community, and few of us can say we have not watched a friend, family member or neighbor face the physical, emotional and financial challenges that come with a diagnosis.

Treatment can be exhausting, and the costs associated with fighting the disease can add another layer of stress to an already difficult journey. For patients and their families, knowing they are not alone can make a meaningful difference.

That is where Ride 2 Survive comes in. They are a community-based volunteer organization whose mission is to assist with transportation expenses for Sullivan County residents or those receiving treatment locally, who are under the care of an oncologist and who have been diagnosed with cancer or pre-malignant conditions.

For many people in Sullivan County who are undergoing treatment it means driving to New York City, about 2.5 hours away, or other places far away and with the price of gas and tolls those costs add up.

This October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many of us know someone whose lives have been touched by this disease.

We can’t thank Ride 2 Survive enough for supporting cancer patients on their journey.

And now it’s your turn to give back: Ride 2 Survive will hold their 14th annual dinner dance on Saturday, November 7 at Resorts World Catskills beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets cost $75 and go to supporting this amazing organization.

So, show up for a good cause. To purchase tickets, call 845-707-2817.
