NARROWSBURG – Join Jenny Carpenter (Cold Spring, NY), in DVAA’s Alliance Gallery at 1pm on Saturday, April 26, where she will be discussing her current exhibition, Open Spaces, on view through May 11.
In Open Spaces, Carpenter paints on birch panels. Starting with a graphite line then layering – almost as a stain – oil on top of oil until an image slowly emerges from within. When the drawn line intersects with the grain itself, the graphite changes course, creating a new path. The stops and starts continue until the image is neither representative nor abstract.
