They’re there when you need them—our police officers, firefighters, first responders, ambulance corps, paramedics and fire police. That’s why we honor them during National EMS Week.
In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS professionals and the important work they do in our nation’s communities.
National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s frontline.
Across Sullivan County, many of these positions are volunteer. And while you hope to never need them to provide service to you or your loved ones, they are always there to answer the call.
From providing medical care as soon as you need it, to transporting patients to the hospital, to advanced life support. Together they create a web—from the first 911 call to making sure people are being treated with the best possible care—to assist our residents in times of emergencies.
And there are things we can do to support them, from fundraisers to encouraging volunteer efforts (see page 5A).
Together we can keep Sullivan County safe.
Turn to pages 4A-9A to read more about National EMS Week and the advertisers who show their support.
