ROCK HILL – In light of the recent work zone accidents, Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay will hold a press conference alongside local first responders to highlight the importance of following NY’s Move Over Law to ensure the safety of road crews, first responders, and other drivers.
On Wednesday morning, June 25, the Rock Hill Fire Department responded to another motor vehicle accident on NYS Route 17, this time involving a NYS Department of Transportation vehicle.
“Traffic accidents, especially in work zones, should not be commonplace. We owe it to one another to be cautious and attentive while driving,” Kay said. “Families should not have to worry whether their loved ones will return from a day of repairing our roads, especially since these are the very roads we’ve been asking the state to repair. I hope everyone will take this reminder to heart as the summer recreation season kicks off in our beautiful district.”
“It’s not just courteous to move over when you see emergency vehicles, tow trucks, or workers on the road,” Kay said. “It’s the law, and it saves lives. Let’s get everyone home safely this summer.”
