CALLICOON — “What a great view,” a patron exclaimed Sunday afternoon at the new Beechwoods Sports Bar & Grille Room as they looked out of the brand new five-foot tall windows toward the Villa Roma golf course, which was covered under six inches of freshly fallen snow.

 “I never knew it was so beautiful,” he said

Karen Clifford, who is a bartender at the new Sports Bar, agreed. 

“We just put in the new windows and it makes such a difference,” she said. “Golfers are going to love the view this spring.”

The Sports Bar is located directly under The Club at Villa Roma off County Rd. 164.

Villa Roma Director of Entertainment Doc Holiday loves the new addition to the resort.

“The Sports Bar came out great and is there to service our guests and the community residents,” he said Wednesday.

The Bar & Grille features all new tables and chairs, six big-screen TVs and a lounge area complete with three leather sofas, and the changes to the Villa Roma’s grill room are very noticeable.

Following the purchase late last year of the Villa Roma Resort Hotel by Fay Hospitality Catskills and principal Sandeep Wadhwa, the hotel is now undergoing a series of improvements and upgrades throughout the property.

Open to the public, the the hours are Thursday and Friday from 5 - 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 11 p.m. 

“Hours will be based on the event,” Doc Holiday said, referring to staying open longer if an event ran over.

With all the tv’s, their will be multiple games on, including football, racing, college basketball and golf, to name but a few.
