GLEN SPEY – Burn Brae Mansion, one of the region’s most historic and haunted estates, will come alive this October with a thrilling series of events designed to delight, fright, and immerse guests in the spirit of the season. From murder mysteries to its legendary Dark Forest trail, and an exclusive first-ever Halloween Night tour, Burn Brae Mansion is set to be the ultimate Halloween destination.
“We look forward to October all year long,” said Andy Russ, President of Dark Forest Creations and co-owner of Burn Brae Mansion. “With Halloween falling on a Friday, we have five jam-packed weekends of spine-tingling activities planned, including our eerily educational Secrets of the Dark Forest tour—a brand new attraction.”
Built in 1907 and located in Glen Spey, Burn Brae Mansion is one of the Hudson Valley’s most historic and most haunted properties.
Operating as a year-round bed & breakfast, Burn Brae Mansion is also available for overnight stays, private paranormal investigations, and special events. Internationally known for its immersive events and rich history, Burn Brae Mansion has been featured on numerous paranormal investigation shows, and continues to attract visitors from around the country seeking both culture and the supernatural.
Murder at the Mansion: Frankenstein’s Final Experiment, Saturday, October 4, at 5pm.
After years in hiding, the infamous Dr. Frankenstein has chosen Burn Brae Mansion as the setting to unveil his greatest breakthrough yet: proof that he can bring the dead back to life. But when lightning strikes and something – or someone – comes alive, the night takes a deadly turn. Secrets unravel, tensions rise, and not everyone will make it out alive.
This murder mystery dinner takes place outdoors, and includes a BBQ buffet and the chance for great prizes.
Dark Forest 2025: The Experiments of Dr. Moreau, October 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 from 7-10pm.
Now in its 32nd year, the Dark Forest Fright Trail returns with a terrifying new theme inspired by H.G. Wells’ chilling tale. Guests will step into a world where twisted science and primal fear collide, encountering half-human, half-beast creatures, the terrifying remnants of Dr. Moreau’s unspeakable experiments.
The trail winds through the woods behind Burn Brae Mansion and the evening live music, vendors, food, beer, and wine. Equal parts immersive theater and psychological nightmare, the Dark Forest is a tradition that continues to haunt and thrill thousands each fall.

The Dark Forest Kids’ Matinee, Sunday, October 19 from -4pm.
For one magical afternoon, Dark Forest trades spooky for silly and fright for delight. Kiddos stroll the Dark Forest trail in the daylight, where whimsical characters bring Halloween fun to life. Enjoy games, treat bags, and tasty food and drinks along the way.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Eldred Little League.
Halloween Night at Burn Brae Mansion: Secrets of the Dark Forest, Friday, October 31 from 6-12am.
For the first time in its storied history, Burn Brae Mansion will reveal a hidden path through the Dark Forest, never before open to the public. Lanterns will guide guests past the Hall of Pines, Charles Elkin’s historic bottling works, and the mysterious tale of an unmarked grave, before arriving at the Glen Spey cemetery, final resting place of the Mansion’s original owners.
The evening also includes a guided Mansion tour with entry into the Attic of Curiosities, a Halloween-inspired menu curated by award-winning food artist Kim M. Simons, Angel Card readings by Lily, and a limited-edition souvenir for each guest. With only 50 guests admitted, this intimate experience promises to be one of the most exclusive and unforgettable Halloween nights in the Sullivan Catskills.
Murder at the Mansion: Masquerade of the Macabre, Saturday, November 1 at 6pm.
The season closes with a glamorous yet deadly masquerade ball. Beneath the chandeliers of Burn Brae Mansion, a tangled love triangle erupts into betrayal, jealousy, and murder. Guests will work together to solve the crime for a chance to win prizes – including a $100 gift certificate to Burn Brae Mansion with additional awards for the evening’s most spectacular costumes.
