Comets drop to The Eagles at home despite huge game from Donovan Hart

FALLSBURG – The Comets were set to play at home against the visiting Eagles. A game that always gets physical when these two teams square up. Both teams came out pressing the ball handlers which led to some quick calls as well as forced turnovers.

The officials were kept busy during this contest. Neither team let up on the defensive end. It was a true gritty matchup for 32 minutes. Many players diving for loose balls, stepping up to take charges and  meeting one another in the air on every drive. It was a true contest of heart versus heart.

It was a struggle from the outside for both the Comets and the Eagles. This forced the play to the inside. Foul trouble ensued for the Comets. Several free throw opportunities would grant the Eagles the chance to start pulling away.

The Eagles ended up taking the game on the road as the Comets took an 88-46 on their home court.

The Comets were led in scoring by Donovan Hart with a game high 23 of the Comets 46 points. He was accompanied by Daryl McPherson who added 9 for the Comets.

Burke was led in scoring by Ryan Shust with 18.

Even with the outcome not being what Fallsburg’s Coach White wanted, he had nothing but positive things to say about his team and what they are capable of.

“I’m proud of my boys for trying their hardest. It’s tough to lose anywhere but especially at home. When you start off slow against a team of this caliber it makes it tough to get back into the game and today we just couldn’t fully get back out front. A lot to go over at practice and move forward with the season. Next time we’ll be more prepared.”
