MONTGOMERY – The Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan & Rockland (CFOSR) is pleased to announce the launch of several new funds dedicated to supporting vital community initiatives across the region.

Opening a fund with CFOSR offers numerous benefits, including coming under the Foundation’s 501(c)(3) status for fundraising flexibility, administrative and operational support, an online presence with a dedicated donation button, and the opportunity to participate in regional initiatives such as Hudson Valley Gives, scheduled for May 20. The newly established funds include:

  • The Forever Home Fund, created to support animal care throughout the Hudson Valley while caregivers seek permanent placement for unwanted and abandoned animals.
  • The Goshen Generosity Challenge Fund, which builds on a decade-long tradition of collecting donations from the local community and distributing funds to families in need. By partnering with CFOSR, the initiative will continue and expand its impact.
  • The First Federal Savings of Middletown Foundation Fund was created by leadership of the bank to support a wide range of charitable causes throughout the region.
  • The Charlotte & Michael Sherman Memorial Scholarship Fund, established to award scholarships to Orange County students pursuing higher education in the health or education fields.

The Community Foundation is now home to more than 650 charitable funds, including more than 150 scholarship funds, supporting programs and causes across Orange, Sullivan, and Rockland counties. Through partnerships with generous individuals, families, and organizations, CFOSR continues to strengthen the communities it serves and expand opportunities for local impact. The Foundation is able to accept a wide variety of charitable gifts including shares of appreciated stock, IRA assets (including required minimum distributions at age 73), proceeds from sale of a business, cash, checks and so much more.
