Corner Store Comedy Brings New Energy to the Catskills Comedy Scene

SULLIVAN COUNTY, N.Y. — A growing comedy collective is bringing new energy to stages across the region while creating opportunities for emerging performers to find their voice.

Corner Store Comedy Troupe, founded by comedian and producer Keith Prince alongside business partner Amanni Sitz, has been steadily building a presence throughout Sullivan County, the Hudson Valley, and the Catskills. With a focus on accessibility and community, the group aims to support new comedians while providing live entertainment in local venues. “Our goal is to give comics a real chance to get on stage and develop,” Prince said. “At the same time, we want to create something fun and different for the audience.”

The troupe produces a mix of curated showcases and open mics, featuring performers from across the region. For many newer comedians, these events offer valuable stage time that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

Behind the scenes, Sitz oversees the technical production, helping ensure each show runs smoothly and delivers a consistent experience for both performers and attendees.

One of Corner Store Comedy’s more unique offerings is “Yay or Nay,” an interactive open mic that invites audience members to take part in the show. Attendees are encouraged to cheer for jokes that land—or playfully toss soft foam tomatoes when they don’t—giving comedians immediate feedback in a lively, engaging setting. “The audience becomes part of the show,” Prince said. “It adds a level of energy you don’t always get at a traditional open mic.”

The next installment of “Yay or Nay” is scheduled for May 16 at The Woodstock Way Groovy Eatery in Mongaup Valley, where both comics and audience members can expect an evening of unpredictable and participatory comedy.

In addition to developing talent, Corner Store Comedy partners with local businesses and venues, helping to draw crowds and contribute to the area’s growing live entertainment scene.

“We’re trying to build something that benefits everyone involved,” Prince said. “It’s about creating opportunities and bringing people together.”

As the troupe continues to expand its reach, Corner Store Comedy is positioning itself as a grassroots force in the regional comedy scene—one that prioritizes both performer growth and audience experience.

Tickets and additional information for the May 16 “Yay or Nay” show at The Woodstock Way Groovy Eatery are available through Corner Store Comedy’s official social media pages (@cornerstorecomedytroupe) and event listings.
