DVAA Presents “Music to the People: An Evening of Protest Songs,” on July 18th

NARROWSBURG – On Saturday, July 18th at 7pm, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) will present Music to the People at the Tusten Theatre. This celebration of protest songs and the communities they invigorate will feature performances by local favorites Elizabeth Rose, Richard Hoehler, Open for Suggestions, Singing Resistance NEPA Choir, and Radio Catskill’s Kathy Geary, who will also host the event.

This celebration of art as activism is a companion piece to the group exhibition Revolutions, on view in DVAA’s Loft Gallery through July 26. In recognition of not only the 50th anniversary of DVAA’s founding (a revolutionary act of its own), but the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the revolutionary power the arts can hold in shaping societies, Revolutions brings together artists responding to moments of upheaval and renewal. Spanning a wide range of media and perspectives, the exhibition surveys how change takes root and how artists can lift voices and shape our understanding of historic moments.

The exhibition, curated by Ariel Shanberg and Tanner Simon, features works by Eileen Bernstein, Seth Carnes, RP Coleman, Shari Drewett, Laurie Guzda, Katie Hovencamp, Christopher Johnson, Richard Klein, Liz Kolansky, William M. Landau, Claudine Luchsinger, Douglas Shindler, & Susan Weinthaler.

Music to the People is part of a series of musical performances DVAA will be presenting in collaboration with Radio Catskill this year, all taking place at the Tusten Theatre. For details, visit delawarevalleyartsalliance.org.
