Callicoon — On Sunday, November 23, ENGN invites everyone from across Sullivan County and the Upper Delaware region to gather for ENGN’s Speakers Corner — a full-day open forum where anyone can stand, speak, and be heard.
Inspired by London’s historic Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, where citizens have gathered for over a century to share ideas freely, ENGN’s version transforms this tradition into a local celebration of voice, culture, and connection.
From sunrise to sunset, residents can come by to read, perform, tell stories, or simply listen. Words may be spoken, sung, recited, or improvised on the spot. Participants can bring their own writing or choose from a curated collection of readings available at the site.
There will be no censorship or editing — only one shared purpose: to celebrate the voices, experiences, and identities that make up our community. Any speech that attempts to silence or diminish others will be asked to find another forum.
“A healthy community depends on how it listens,” says artist and ENGN co-founder Thomas Bosket. “This isn’t about performance — it’s about presence. Every story, every idea belongs.”
ENGN’s Speakers Corner continues the organization’s mission to connect art, dialogue, and civic life through projects that blend creativity with social participation.
All are welcome. Admission is free. Snacks and warmth provided.
