MONTICELLO – Tweeds Gymnastics, more affectionately known as Monticello Gymnastics Club, hosted its 42nd Annual Gymnastics Exhibition on Saturday, June 13, at Monticello High School. More than 300 parents and community members packed the bleachers to celebrate the 2025-2026 season finale.
This end-of-year event allowed young athletes from the tiny tots program through high school age to proudly display the skills and routines they practiced over the season. To the delight of family and friends in attendance, the classes performed choreographed dances combined with gymnastics tumbling. Lori James returned for another year as MC for the show.
It’s the gym’s largest fundraiser of the year, with all the revenue earned going back into the program to fund equipment upkeep, the purchase of new equipment, and general expenses. The theme this year was Galaxy. Spectators were greeted with alien blowups, space-themed balloon pillars, and competition team gymnasts donned sparkly bedazzled leotards. Kristin Myers has three children in the program, Liam, Paige, and Morgan, who just completed her first year on the competition team. “Tweed’s 42nd Annual Gymnastics Exhibition was another great success this year! Through their guidance and encouragement, gymnasts continue to develop not only their athletic abilities, but also important life skills such as discipline, perseverance, confidence, and teamwork.
The event was a wonderful celebration of the athletes’ growth and achievements throughout the season, Myers said!” Sentiments echoed by Chelsea Cunningham, whose three children, Shea, Maci, and Abel, attend recreation classes. “I love watching all of these wonderful kids, including my own, showcase the hard work and dedication they’ve put into gymnastics. Seeing them proudly demonstrate their progress to their families and the community is truly special. The smiles on their faces during the show say it all!”
Planning for the show begins in January, with the team’s booster club getting preliminary approvals, securing venue dates, and launching initial fundraising efforts for the upcoming season.
Head Coach Pedro “Pete” Tweed said, “The show went off without a hitch! Everyone enjoyed themselves. Many thanks to all the coaches and parents who work so hard to make the show great every year.
