SULLIVAN COUNTY – This week, fall sports around the county will kick off for the 2026-2027 school year. Although summer doesn’t officially end until Labor Day, student-athletes have already returned to practice on their respective courts and fields in preparation for game day. The Democrat will be there for the action, covering sports in all seven school districts, from Rockland Central School District on the western side of the county to the Tri-Valley Central School District, just 33 minutes to the east, and every district in between. As the excitement builds, teams are looking forward to showcasing their skills and teamwork in competitive matches. Coaches have been hard at work, developing strategies and encouraging a supportive environment for their athletes. Outdoor fields at Monticello have been under construction but this season the new field will be used for soccer and football practices. Liberty’s football field will get full use for games and events this year.
