LIVINGSTON MANOR – The Regional Food Bank provided some 200 families with food at Calliope and Gael on Main Street in Livingston Manor on July 9 as part of Pop-Up Food Distribution program. The event was due to the support of Assemblyman Brian Maher and the Ramapo Catskill Library System. Members from Maher's office staff and the RCLS were on hand to help families fill bags with a wide variety of shelf staple foods as well as frozen meat and poultry.
“Assemblyman Maher has been a long-time advocate for addressing food insecurity in communities throughout the Hudson Valley and neighboring regions,” said Meghan Hurlburt, Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Maher. “The Assemblyman was able to secure funding for local libraries, so he brought them together with the Regional Food Bank, local food pantries, the library and other stakeholders and community leaders to help educate the masses on food insecurities while simultaneously working together to address it.”
A second Pop-Up Distribution will take place on Friday, July 17 at 9 a.m. at the Roscoe Rockland Community Center. For information visit www.regionalfoodbank.net.
