HONESDALE, PA — SEEDS (Sustainable Energy Education and Development Support) staff and volunteers will host free drop-in hours on Saturday, July 18, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Newfoundland Library, 954 Main Street, Newfoundland, PA. Residents are invited to bring their energy bills and receive personalized guidance and resources to help make their homes more energy efficient.

With energy prices fluctuating and household utility costs straining family budgets, improving home efficiency has never been more important. Even small upgrades—like sealing air leaks, adding insulation, or switching to efficient lighting—can reduce waste, lower monthly bills, and make homes more comfortable year-round.

Attendees will gain practical insights into the basics of home energy efficiency, including:

  • Identifying common sources of energy loss
  • Simple, low-cost improvements that make a big difference
  • Air sealing, insulation, moisture control, and ventilation basics
  • Everyday habits that reduce energy waste and lower expenses

“Energy efficiency is one of the most effective ways homeowners can control costs,” said Michele Long, Development Director for SEEDS. “When residents understand where energy is lost and how to fix it, they can take practical steps that save money every month while improving comfort and durability.”

Residents experiencing high utility bills, drafts, uneven temperatures, or uncomfortable living spaces are encouraged to attend. By investing just one hour, participants can gain knowledge that helps them save money, improve home comfort, and make informed decisions that benefit their households long after the program ends.

The event is free and open to the public, suitable for homeowners, renters, and anyone interested in reducing household energy costs. For details or directions, visit www.seedsgroup.net.

SEEDS (Sustainable Energy Education and Development Support) is a nonprofit organization serving Northeast Pennsylvania. The group promotes energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable living through education, community programs, and hands-on support.
