Gunther gives $10K to Federation of Homeless

MONTICELLO  — Soon-to-be retired New York State Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther has made a 23-year long career in Albany with a very important goal in mind – to give back. With only a few weeks left in office, she again showed her commitment to that goal with a $10,000 donation to the Federation for the Homeless in Monticello on Tuesday.

“The Federation has done so much over the years to support our community and help those in need; this is the least I can do to show my gratitude for their tireless dedication,” Gunther said.

"Aileen has been a steadfast supporter of the Federation throughout her career in the legislature," said Federation Director, Kathy Kreiter.

"Whether it has been painting our lobby (her and her staff) to peeling hundreds of pounds of potatoes during the holiday season or assisting us through grants, etc, Aileen is a true friend to the community of Sullivan County and all those we serve at the Federation."

"We lost a several freezers and a cooler this summer which has deeply inhibited our ability to store food," Kreiter went on to say, "thanks to Aileen, we received a new cooler and freezer this morning just in time for the holiday season when we truly need it the most."
