FLORIDA, NY – Not to be confused with the state of Florida, members from Tweeds Gymnastics levels 3 and 4 competition team were looking forward to the final meet of the regular season.
The USA Gymnastics State meet competition is in just a few short weeks on Mother’s Day weekend. For some of the girls they were hoping to sharpen skills and clean up their routines. For others this competition served as a last attempt to grab that qualification score. To qualify for states a gymnast at this level must receive an all-around score of at least 32 points.
Alessandra Stanley received her highest scores of the season. Anna Acevedo reached her goal of qualifying for states and performed a powerful vault receiving a score of 8.775!
Charly Casamassima nailed her two back handsprings in her floor routine and Amaya Burton had a solid meet brushing up on a few of her skills. Emilia Tomasulo brought home a medal for 2nd place on beam with a score of 9.325, her personal best.
After the meet assistant coach Layla Mack shared, “I’m proud of all of them. I’ve witnessed so much improvement at this competition. Now, time for states!”
