esterday, September 22, marked the autumnal equinox–the first day of the fall season.

The equinox is a time when the sun is directly over the equator, a moment when the day and night are equally divided.

The leaves are already changing color this year, marking our forests and roadways with beautiful bursts of reds, oranges, and yellows.

There are many fall events happening around the county, such as the Harvest Fest at Bethel Woods. Running every Sunday until October 5, this family-friendly event features food and craft vendors, a corn maze, tractor rides and live music.

Two Farms Brewing is holding its first ever Oktoberfest on October 4 and 5 featuring German food, a stein-holding and keg toss contest, food trucks, hot air balloon rides, live music and, of course, beer.

And the Roscoe Beer Company presents their 11th annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 4 with live music, a special release of amber ale, German food specials, vendors, pumpkin painting, crafts and kids’ activities.

Enjoy a day celebrating our logging heritage at Narrowsburg’s Logging Days on October 4. This free, family-friendly event will feature the New York State Lumberjack Association Lumberjack Contest, as well as a baking contest, beard and mustache contest, a kids’ activities area, and educational lectures related to wood and forests.

And there’s so much more going on–from farm festivals to chicken barbeques to craft fairs.

Get out there and get to know your community, and enjoy some fall-flavored fun!
