High School cross-country in the home stretch

LAKE HUNTINGTON – As the regular season for high school sports come to a close many athletes are fine tuning to prepare for Sectionals, Regionals and Championship competitions. In slightly cool temps last week, the Sullivan West Bulldogs cross-country team hosted a dual meet with the Fallsburg Comets and Liberty Redhawks teams in attendance. The Bulldogs took the top two spots in both the boys’ and girls’ races. Bryce Bressler finished with a time of 20:09. 

In the girls’ division, Gracyn Halloran finished the course in 23:20. Rounding out the top three in the boys’ race were Giuseppe Gardner, 20:29, and Braeden Picard, 21:24, all from Sullivan West. Landing in the second and third place spots for the girls were Adriana Ponce, 27:00, and Gia Matullo, 27:10.

Treyvon Hayden finished first for the Comets with a time of 22:15 in the boys’ race, with teammate Alisha Tremper finishing first in the girls’ race with a time of 47:40. Colin Dasraj finished first for the Redhawks with a time of 20:34, and Ponce finished first in the girls’ race for Liberty.

Student athletes from all seven Sullivan County schools are scheduled to compete this morning at the Cross-Country OCIAA Sectional Championships at Sanfordville Elementary School in Goshen.
