Congratulations to Judit and Konrad Kovacs and their family as they celebrate ten years of operating the Yulan Country Store which is certainly one of the most successful and popular family-owned businesses in the Town of Highland. For the past decade whatever food you order at the Yulan Country Store is perfectly prepared and served graciously by their staff. Additionally, the Kovacs cater and sell fresh eggs and a variety of baked goods. Now their oldest daughter Sara is baking fantastic cheesecakes to boot. Best wishes to the Kovacs family who have worked so very hard six days a week at the Store to make their business successful and may there be many more decades of delicious food to come. The Yulan Country Store is located at 218 Airport Road in Yulan, their number is 845 557-0425.

In the Town of Highland, the best thing about Super Bowl Sunday for fans and non-football fans to celebrate the day is that the St Anthony’s Knights of Columbus will be holding their annual Super Bowl Breakfast event. Starting on Sunday February 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for just $10 per person, the breakfast will take place in the Parish Community Center located on Beaverbrook Road across from the Church. The members of the Cardinal John J. O’Connor Chapter of the Knights of Columbus manage all the logistics and operations for the Super Bowl Breakfast. They typically serve between 110-130 guests. The Breakfast is served buffet style and will be offering a menu of scrambled eggs, breads, pancakes, home fries, sausages, bacon and a variety of beverages and juices.

As part of this family friendly event, the Knights sponsor an array of fun traditional Super Bowl games and activities and children of all ages are welcome. The very popular “Lucky Squares will be available with buying chances for $5 to $20 per square – with a top cash prize of $350.00. The Super Bowl Breakfast is the main fundraising event for the Parish’s Knights of Columbus who also work on a variety of events throughout the year to support the Parish and the activities of faith-based communities at large. The funds raised from the breakfast traditionally have gone to funding their scholarship program for deserving graduates of the Eldred Central School to further their education either at a college or a technical skills vocational school. Over the past years the Knights have been able to award close to $50,000 in scholarships to our local students. The tickets are very reasonable at $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children and can be purchased at the door or in the Church’s vestibule after any of the Sunday Masses. For more information, you can call the Rectory at 845 557-8512.
