In case you have not heard The Sunshine Hall free Library will be holding one of their biggest fundraising events, The Town’s Treasures and Trinkets Sale, which is going to be held on Saturday, August 8th. This is a lollapaloosa of all “garage sales” with everything you can imagine for this one-day sale and at very reasonable prices. Why mention it now? The Sale organizers will be collecting donations starting this month and until the day before the Sale starts and will have literally hundreds of interesting items for sale. Need a new rug, some antique chairs, gardening equipment, clothing, electronics, appliances, antique oil lamps, jewelry, power tools, musical instruments, glassware or a vintage chess set? They got you covered and at fantastic prices.

The doors open for the Sale starting at 10am in the Highland Town Hall (across from Peck’s Market in Eldred) until 5pm. According to Kari Margolis, the Coordinator and Curator for the Sale, it is a fun and fantastic way to support the amazing Sunshine Hall Free Library’s community programs and all the Sale proceeds will go to fund the library’s public programs. Have something to donate or a question? Email the ever-marvelous Event Manager and Library Trustee Kari Margolis at Kari@margolismethod.org.

There are several events happening next weekend that are fun for everyone. On Saturday, May 16th, our much-loved Barryville Farmers Market opens for what I believe is its seventh season. Many of our favorite farm vendors will be returning and Grizzly Bagels, Herbal Scoop juices and teas thrown into the line-up and the homemade kettle corn vendor. New this year is Picklelicious - your pickle on a stick treat with thirteen different varieties of pickles, eleven kinds of olives, kimchi, roasted garlic, and peppers-a fermented food lovers hot spot. The Barryville Farmers Market is located at 3405 State Route 97 in Barryville, and the hours are from 10-1pm.

Besides being the Town of Highland’s Dump Day, it is also an open session for the Tusten Repair Café Day which I have been trying to get to for at least two years to get a clock repaired. The Repair Café is staffed by volunteers who have expertise in repairing small appliances and household items including mechanical, electrical, wood and furniture, picture framing repairs, jewelry screening, and gardening advice. I’m fairly sure my clock will be mechanical, and I can always use gardening advice. The repairs are done for free to help keep items out of the trash and donations are very much appreciated.

The Tusten Repair Café will be held in the Tusten Town Hall at 210 Bridge Street in Narrowsburg (under the Tusten Theater) next to the Tusten-Cochecton Branch Library. Make sure your item is clean and please bring a canned or boxed donation for the Ecumenical Food Pantry. For questions go to Repair Café Tusten on Facebook and you can email repaircafetusten@gmail.com.

Just a reminder that the Eldred Central School will be holding the election on Tuesday, May 19 during the hours of 11-8pm. On the ballot is the approval of a new budget, several resolutions and two candidates who are running for the School Board positions. The elections will be held in the school’s gymnasium. Everyone got a notice with all the details about the election in the mail and it's important to go and vote.
