There are certain things you can count on in late summer in Sullivan County.
The leaves will begin to turn colors. The mornings will dawn colder. And the Hortonville Fire Department will celebrate the fire services of our county with its annual field day.
At 89 years old, this county tradition is still holding strong with the traditional parade of fire departments and EMS crew down the main drag, followed by games and plenty to eat on the field behind the firehouse.
This year’s parade earned honors for a variety of departments who were judged by volunteers from the Inter-County Volunteer Judge’s Association. In particular, a company from just up the road carted off a variety of trophies. The Jeffersonville Fire Department was awarded both Best Appearing Company Marching and the Judge’s Award for Apparatus.
