July 1 – The Callicoon Center Band is back every Wednesday night at 8 p.m.! This Catskills tradition has been playing for the last 92 years and a tradition you have to experience! The band plays six family-friendly shows every summer in their bandstand on the Gulf Road in Callicoon Center. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, pack a snack and get there early for a good spot. Be sure to bring cash for the pie raffle too! Children and dogs are welcome.

The White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church is having their 31st Annual Chicken BBQ July 11 starting at 4 p.m. until they are sold out at the WSS Firemen’s Park on Shore Road in White Sulphur Springs. You can eat in or take out and all tickets are $15 and available only at the door. They are also having a Bake Sale to help raise funds for the Church’s new AC system. Bring your family and friends out for a delicious dinner to show your community support and grab some goodies from the Bake Sale for later!

The Buck Brook Alpaca’s Inc. (located at 12 Bestenheider Road, Roscoe) are celebrating 250 years of Freedom! For the entire month of July, they will be doing a Scavenger Hunt around the farm! Find flags, take a picture and post it on your social media with #BBAflagfind. If you subscribe to Buck Brook Alpacas on YouTube you can be entered into a drawing for a red, white, and blue lap blanket valued at $250. All Scavenger Hunt finishers will earn 10% off in the Farm Store.

The Hortonville Volunteer Fire Department is having their 92nd Annual Field Day and Parade on Saturday, August 29 with the Parade at Noon and Field Day ending at 9 p.m. Live music provided by Jaketown Road, music by DJ Jim and their Chicken BBQ (takeouts available too) at 3p.m. Food, drinks and fun for all ages! They have plenty of cover under their tents and pavilion so bring your family and support the volunteers rain or shine!

Save the Date: Saturday, September 19 the JEMS is hosting the Jeff Jamboree on Main Street in Jeffersonville!  Once again, the 1st Presbyterian Church will be serving their delicious Pancake Breakfast and Jim Hughson will be in charge of the Tractor Parade. JEMS Annual Duck Race will be lots of fun too! Live music will be provided by the talented Little Sparrow Band and Butch will have his beautiful draft horse team there giving everyone free rides too. Watch for more information as we get closer. Lots of vendors and fun all day! If you are a vendor and would like to participate, you need to contact Debbie Thony to obtain an application by calling/texting her at 845-701-3009 or email her at debra.thony@gmail.com.

Fireworks are one of the biggest reasons pets go missing each year with celebrations starting in advance of the Fourth too. Even confident dogs can panic and bolt and, if you are attending an event away from home, it will be harder to locate them. To help: be sure they have up-qto-date tags/microchips. I turn the TV up louder to try to “hide” the noise. Be careful when you open a door so they do not sneak out. Enjoy your 4th of July!
