I know school is out for the Summer, but I want to share something I just learned. The students from the fifth grade Red Team at the Sullivan West Elementary School worked hard to make the school’s front entrance pretty by planting perennials, shrubs and trees. A hands-on-beautification project that not only enhanced the school grounds but also gave the students the opportunity to care for the areas where they learn, play and gather.

I am a volunteer with the JEMS (Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan) beautification group that works hard to keep Main Street Jeffersonville at it’s best with flowers, bushes, etc. We have a great time with the 4th graders every year helping them to plant their flowers they had grown in their classrooms, within the “Kid’s Garden”,  in front of Pecks. We look forward to getting some of them as volunteers in the future and thank them for helping to make a difference now!

Reservations are needed for the High Tea. Cost is $25 per person with seatings at Noon and 3 p.m. FMI and to make a reservation call 329-237-8546.

Help the Jeff Bank support our local animal shelters from June 30 to August 7 by stopping in one of their branches and purchasing a donation card. The CARE (Catskill Animal Rescue) is a local shelter and the Humane Society of Port Jervis & Deerpark would be if you are at their Port Jervis branch. Every donation helps provide food, shelter, medical care, and a second chance for animals in need. Please consider donating to your local shelter and make a difference.

Lately when driving it seems that lots of turtles and does with fawns are in the road, making the road more like an obstacle course. If you see a turtle, be sure it is not a snapping turtle before you help it off the road. Turtles often return using the same route every year as part of their natural migration. If you do help get it off the road, be careful to place it facing the same way it was going when you put it in the grass.

Please let me know if you have any news to share!
