GLEN SPEY – The Kadampa Meditation Center offers three retreats for those seeking spiritual guidance this winter:
March 13 – 18, Emptiness and Imagination: A Mandala Offering Retreat with Gen Samten Kelsang
This retreat focuses on the preliminary practices of accumulating merit. This practice creates positivity in the mind, or merit. Everyone wishes for spiritual realizations, but these depend upon creating certain inner conditions such as purifying negativity, accumulating merit, and receiving blessings.
March 27 – 29, Weekend Meditation Retreat: Navigating Change and Impermanence with Gen Kelsang Zamling
Everything changes. Nothing lasts. While we know this is true, we often resist change and struggle with uncertainty. Buddha's teachings on the truth of impermanence can help to let go of the past, live lightly and develop a flexible, creative mind. In this meditation retreat, you can explore how impermanence makes personal transformation possible.
January 9 - February 19, The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra – Silent Winter Retreat
The Winter Retreats consist of six stand-alone silent retreats based on The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Participants are welcome to attend the entire retreat or by the week. The first two weeks of retreat observe partial silence, and the last four weeks observe full silence. A key focus of these retreats will be the sustainability of meditation practice — to create a structure of Mahamudra meditation that will inform daily life.
