A visit to the outdoor Farmers and Makers Market in Kauneonga Lake brought wonderful surprises, as approximately fifteen craftsmen, growers, and artists came together for a showing of local talent. Here is a quick view at some of the creatives:

Light Curves Stained Glass had a sparkling display of handcrafted earrings and necklaces made with sterling silver and various types of glass. Worked from sheets, some of the glass is layered and fused in a kiln, or ground and shaped into squares. Joan Nicole’s work is offered online at www.LightCurves.Etsy.com. It is sold at the Bethel Woods Museum gift shop; in Woodstock at Happy Life Productions; at Gardener & Co. (Hortonville General Store), and at the Jeffersonville Farmers Market. She also makes custom stained-glass windows and can be reached at LightCurves@gmail.com or (845)978-7653.

Mae Bonnaci makes holistic body tonics from original organic, cruelty free recipes. She offers body and face oils, rubs, teas, and aromatherapy candles made with coconut and soy. Her rubs are fused with peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary and bergamot. She will be at the Bagel Fest, the Mountaindale market, and here through the summer. She also does online orders at simplymaemae.com.

Franco LoPinto of LoPinto Pottery makes beautiful one-of-a kind bowls, trays, dishes and mugs that are dishwasher safe and microwaveable. His hand made pieces are fired in a kiln at 2200 degrees and bear unique painted designs. Reach him at lopintopottery@yahoo.ca or (845)866-4480.

Daisy Doo Handmade by Karin reflects sewing talent and craftsmanship. The versatile, hand sewn, washable cotton and canvas items range from colorful tote and travel bags, lipstick holders, to cosmetic bags, in a variety of sizes. She will be here throughout the summer.

Adrienne Walker’s watercolor and acrylic paintings, and cards are prolific. A Harvard music major, she began sculpting in 1997 and evolved into a painter of twenty years. She says, “I paint from my heart” and offers 4x6 up to 16x20 and 48x60 canvases, as well as hand painted cards. Working from studios in Smallwood and Boynton Beach, FL, she can be reached at (516) 885-4199, adriennew4199@gmail.com or www.adriennearts.com.

Monteleone HydraFarm Gardens offers greenhouse-grown organic produce ranging from cucumbers, kohlrabi, lettuces, tomatoes, kale, to herbs. Grown inside in rows, nutrients and water are delivered systematically as needed throughout the growing stages. Maturation is reached in about five weeks. Located at 582 St. Rte. 55, Eldred, NY, they can be reached at monteleonegardens.com.

Yemallah Naturals represents “A mission to uplift fallen humanity”, with Moorish Americana books, healing scents, incense burners, pottery, and jewelry. Handcrafted earrings and necklaces made of brass, copper, hematite, and Cameroon cowrie shells convey love, prosperity, and fertility. Reach them on social media @yemallah naturals and (917)808-7184.They will be here all summer.

FC Barcelona brings a flair to New York. From Barcelona, Sandra Martinetto of www.OrganicWorld.US is a health coach, farmer, and professor. In addition to her teaching role at SUNY Sullivan of a nutrition and food ethics course, she gives cooking demos at Cornell Co-operative Sullivan Fresh locations. She vends corn, potatoes, and beets, all grown on a four acre organic Forestburgh farm, as well as carrot-mint salad, cabbage dishes, black bean hummus, and more, at the market.
