ROCK HILL – The Lake Communities Alliance NY (LCA) will host a Community Update & Fundraiser on Sunday, August 24, from 4-6pm at Dutch’s Tavern, 206 Rock Hill Drive in Rock Hill. The event will bring residents together for an evening of community, food, raffle prizes, and informative presentations on development projects that could shape the future of the Catskills lake communities.
The LCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable, responsible growth that preserves the character, tranquility, and vibrancy of the region. With developers proposing large-scale projects whose size and scope could negatively impact the quality of life for homeowners and long-time residents, the LCA works to ensure growth reflects community priorities and safeguards the investments residents have made in their homes.
Attendees will receive updates on key issues currently on the LCA’s agenda, including:
• Avon Park development plans
• Progress in fighting development projects
• Route 17 Expansion vs. the “Rethink Route 17” Citizen Advocates initiative
• Efforts to designate the Delaware & Hudson Canal Reservoir as a Critical Environmental Area (CEA)
“This event is about more than just raising funds,” said an LCA spokesperson. “It’s about empowering residents with information, building connections, and ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard in the development process.”
Tickets are available online at http://bit.ly/LCA8-24 for $30 in advance or $50 at the door – each ticket includes two raffle entries. The fundraiser will feature food, drinks, raffle prizes, and presentations on key development issues impacting the region.
Proceeds will help fund the LCA’s continued advocacy efforts, community engagement, and, when necessary, legal action to ensure development safeguards the natural beauty and integrity of the lake communities.
Sponsorships and donations are welcome. For more information visit www.rhlca.org/ or email info@rhlca.org.
