May is quickly filling up with all the excitement that comes with this time of year — baseball and softball games, planning summer gardens, concerts, celebrations, and end-of-school-year events. The days are flying by, and before we know it, summer will be here in full swing!
Here are some events happening in our community and beyond:
Sullivan West Central School District Budget Vote and Election is on May 19. Visit the school website for budget information and get out to vote.
There will be a Sausage & Pepper Lunch Fundraiser at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Suggested donation of $15 per lunch. Please contact MaryJane at 845-798-8586 or Ann at 315-727-4446 for more information and tickets.
The Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid Society would like to thank the community for supporting their recent Penny Social! They had another great turn out! Many thanks to all who supported, donated items, baked cakes, and volunteered to help.
The opening of the 1976 Time Capsule at the lower level of Cochecton Town Hall has been postponed until July, with a new date to be announced soon. While the community eagerly awaits this special event, a full lineup of engaging historical programs and gatherings is planned throughout the summer. On June 7 at 1 p.m., the focus will be on the Hamlet of Skinners Falls at the Erie Depot on Route 97, followed by the Hamlet of Cochecton Center on June 21 at 1 p.m. at Heinle’s Ball Field. The series continues on July 12 at 1 p.m. with the Hamlet of Fosterdale at Cochecton Town Hall, and on August 9 at 1 p.m., the spotlight turns to the Hamlet of Lake Huntington, also at Town Hall. On August 30 at 1 p.m., the Hamlet of Cochecton will be featured at the Cochecton Men’s Club and Ball Field. The season concludes on September 20 at 1 p.m. with the 20th Annual Coffee, Tea & History at the Erie Depot on Route 97, featuring docent Glen Pontier presenting “Wood, Coal and Water: Three Essentials that Changed the River Valley.”
The Callicoon Caffé is hosting a Taco Night Fundraiser on Wednesday, May 27th to support Wreaths Across America for the Fosterdale Cemetery. Orders are $20 each (cash only) and must be pre-ordered by May 20th. Each order includes your choice of beef or chicken tacos, with 2 soft shell and 2 hard shell tacos with all the fixings, a cheese quesadilla, and a side of rice and beans. To place an order, call or text (518) 227-0323. Pick-up will take place between 4 PM and 7 PM on May 27th at the Callicoon Caffé, located at 23 A. Dorrer Drive, Callicoon, NY 12723.
