MONTICELLO – L&B Tack used a powerful offensive performance to defeat Dutch’s Tavern 21-1 in a Women’s League softball matchup that ended in four innings.

Both teams started the game with strong defense. Dutch’s Tavern retired the side in order in the top of the first, but L&B Tack broke through in the bottom half when a leadoff single was followed by a deep triple that drove in the game’s first run. Dutch’s prevented further damage and trailed just 1-0 after the opening inning.

The game shifted dramatically in the second inning as L&B Tack turned up their offense. Three consecutive doubles helped spark a rally that quickly stretched the lead, and a two-run double highlighted an 11-run inning. Consistent hitting throughout the lineup allowed L&B to build a commanding 12-0 advantage before Dutch’s was finally able to record the third out.

Dutch’s Tavern answered with determination in the top of the third, stringing together several hits to score its lone run of the evening and avoid the shutout. L&B responded immediately, however, using a double, back-to-back triples, and several timely singles to add four more runs and extend its lead.

After another strong defensive inning from L&B Tack, Dutch’s recorded two quick outs in the bottom of the fourth before L&B mounted one final rally. A deep triple brought home two runners, and a string of additional hits pushed the score to 21-1, triggering the mercy rule and ending the contest. L&B Tack’s balanced attack and steady defense proved to be the difference as the team earned an impressive victory under the lights at Collins Park.
