Posted

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, Liberty Library Café begins its 2025 musical season on Thursday, March 13th with “a shotta life’ from Tom “Tommy” Gardner, lead singer and guitarist of the Hooley Shooters, accompanied by fiddle player Carol Sharar. Gardner and Sharar will be playing a wide selection of classic Irish pub songs, from “Fiddler’s Green” to “Molly Malone,” “Galway Girl” to “Finnegan’s Wake.” Many songs will feature a sing-along component.

A singer and song writer, Tom Gardner is also the founder of Uncle Brothers which has written and performed music for children throughout the region. His music for children has won a Parents Choice Award, as well as a Children’s Music Web Award.

Carol Sharar is a violinist as well as a fiddler. She served as an orchestra director, chamber music coach and string specialist for the Ridgewood (NJ) Public Schools for over 30 years and currently teaches music at New York University. As a violinist, Sharar has toured with the New York Symphonic Ensemble, and appeared in concert with Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennet, and Sarah McLaughlin, amongst many other musicians.

Irish music lovers won’t want to miss this lively performance! Due to the popularity of the library’s live music events, registration is required. This free presentation will be held on Thursday, March 13th at 6:30 PM at the Liberty Public Library at 189 North Main Street, Liberty, NY 12754. For more information and registration, please call the library at (845)292-6070 or see the events calendar at libertypubliclibrary.org.
