Libraries Provide Free Access to The New York Times

SULLIVAN COUNTY – As the shift toward digital information continues to accelerate, public libraries remain essential in connecting communities with online resources and helping bridge the digital divide. Many residents may not realize the extent of free digital services available to them.

Libraries offer far more than traditional collections. Many, including those listed below, now provide free movie streaming through Kanopy and extensive catalogs of ebooks and audiobooks with Libby, both services being available via web browser and app.

A number of Sullivan County’s public libraries have recently introduced New York Times All Access to their communities. This service provides unlimited access to The New York Times’ full suite of digital content, including news, podcasts, Cooking, Games, Wirecutter, and The Athletic. The NY Times is available to users ages 13 and older and can be accessed remotely from anywhere. Participating libraries in Sullivan County include the Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library, Western Sullivan Public Library, Liberty Public Library, Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library (Monticello), Sunshine Hall Free Library (Eldred), and Fallsburg Library.

Residents are encouraged to contact their local library to learn more and begin taking advantage of these free digital resources.
