CALLICOON – A two-day exhibition of the collected works of the late artist Theresa R. Curtis will be on display on September 12th and 13th from 11am to 4pm at the Callicoon Depot in the center of downtown Callicoon, NY.

Theresa (“Terry”) first came to the Upper Delaware River valley in 1961 after studying at The Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. She attended The Art Students League in New York City while working for NBC as a guidette. Locally, she taught art at St. Joseph’s Sephardic Seminary and later ran The Tree House gallery where she showcased her own pieces as well as other regional artisans'. She continued to work as a potter and painter with an emphasis on portraits, watercolors and painted pottery often with figural sculptures.

Media familiar to people who know her artistry will be on display as well as rarer examples of her earlier art, enamel work and illustrations reflecting her love of the natural world, the people she knew in it and the landscape of the Delaware River valley (and, occasionally, soccer and horse-based sports).

Terry passed away in September 2025. It is her family’s wish for the people who loved her art to be able to visit it in one place before the collection moves on, and for others to discover seventy years of work by a gifted local artist.
