MONTICELLO – Madison “Mady” Taggart is a fierce competitor on the softball diamond. Taggart became eligible to play at the varsity level this season as a seventh grader. Mom Amy shared, “Mady’s work ethic is unmatched for her age.  She’s always trying to improve her game on both sides of the plate.  She loves being in the circle no matter the situation. She is truly built different and mature beyond her years.  I have watched a little girl with a dream turn into a young lady that has made that dream a reality. ”

In school, math is Madison’s favorite subject, she also enjoys spending time with her horses and attending horse shows, and barrel racing when she has the time. But it’s all business on the mound. Madison plays travel softball year-round, and finished with a highly productive varsity season. In April, the Monticello Panthers played in the Rockland Baseball/Softball Tournament where Taggart finished the day with an impressive 29 strikeouts. Just a few short weeks ago in yet another tournament Taggart reached a long awaited 100 strikeout milestone! On that accomplishment Head Coach Alaina Gaughan said, “Madison Taggart reached an incredible milestone of 100 strikeouts as a 7th grader. Her hard work and dedication continue to shine, and I’m excited to watch her future success unfold!” Taggart has twice been named 845 Player of the Week and after the final tally of the season she finished with a total of 119 strikeouts. On her future in the sport, her mother Amy said,“I’m not sure what the future holds for Mady, but I’m certain she’ll have a ball in her hand, and I will be front row to watch her shine.”
