SOUTH FALLSBURG – The Mamakating Lions Club welcomed 72 golfers for its Annual Pat Frasca scholarship golf tournament on Friday, May 29. Participants enjoyed a beautiful day on the course while raising funds to support local students. Every dollar raised through the event goes directly toward scholarships for students attending schools in the Town of Mamakating, including Monticello, Pine Bush, Burke, Port Jervis, Minisink, and Ellenville.

Last year’s tournament generated $3,500, allowing the Lions Club to award seven $500 scholarships. This year, scholarship recipients represent all of the participating school districts. The students were recognized at a scholarship dinner on June 2 at the Wurtsboro Fire Hall, where seven scholarships were awarded this year.

The winning foursome of this year’s tournament was Dennis White, Joshua White, Shawn White, and Ed Espinosa, who traveled from Parker Bale American Legion in Ossining to compete. Their continued support has become a valued part of the annual event.

“We have 72 golfers this year! Our community and Parker Bale American Legion in Ossining support us every year,” said Mamakating Lions Club President JoAnn Salamone. “It was a beautiful day and I want to say a big thank you to all our Mamakating Lions who work the event.” With strong community participation and continued support from local organizations, the tournament once again highlighted the Mamakating Lions Club’s commitment to investing in the next generation of local students.
