As the summer begins, the colors of red, white, and blue become ever so common place.  And this week is no exception. June 14 is Flag Day. The celebration of Old Glory signifies the history of the flags throughout the start of our country until the traditional Stars and Stripes with 50 white stars on a field of blue representing our 50 states, and the 13 in total red and white stripes representing our original 13 colonies. Monticello Elks Lodge #1544 will hold its Annual Flag Day Ceremony at 11am on June 14 at the Lodge on North Street Monticello.

The Monticello Rotary Club will hold its Annual Chicken BBQ at De Hoyas Park in Monticello from 4-7pm on Tuesday, June 17.  Guaranteed to be at sell-out capacity, be sure to get your tickets priced at $20 each for your delicious meal complete with all the  sides from any Monticello Rotarian or by emailing RotaryMonti@gmail.com.

The 33rd Annual Rhulen Rock Hill Run and Ramble 5k scheduled for June 14 at 9am. The R4 is an iconic local race and one of the longest standing in the Hudson Valley.  This is the race that begins the local area races for the season.

Last year, the race moved down the hill to Holiday Mountain Ski Area, where they have a new USTAF Certified 5K course that meanders along the Neversink River. It is scenic and fast!

The 5K is hosted by The Trevor Loughlin Foundation, which is inspired to make a difference in the lives of patients battling acute, catastrophic illnesses and all blood cancers. Grants are issued to patients in our region to lessen the financial burden that accompanies their illness. Funds are also donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma society, dedicated to finding a cure for blood cancer. To register: https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/HolidayMountainSkiArea/RockHillRun.
