Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but with so much to do and to celebrate, hearts just warm up all that is cold to enjoy the season.
There will be a DIY Energy-Savings Session presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension at the Ethelbert Crawford Library in Monticello on Thursday, December 4, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Register to receive a free Energy Saving Kit valued at $80 by calling 845-292-6180.
Shout-outs to Sullivan Central Rotary Club in collaboration with Assemblymember Paula Kay and her staff, and Steve and George Nikolados from Miss Monticello Diner for organizing, preparing, and delivering 50 Thanksgiving dinners to those in need as well as Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty and his team including Monticello Police Chief David Lindsay, DA Chief Investigator Scott Kinne for delivering prepared Thanksgiving dinners donated by Community Activist and Law Enforcement Chaplin Rabbi Joel Friedman.
Rock Hill Business and Community Association will hold its Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, December 7, at 5 p.m. at 206 Rock Hill Drive in Rock Hill. Join the fun in caroling and the chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served at Dutch’s Tavern. A great way to start the holiday season.
The Landfield Avenue Synagogue holds its All Things Chanukah: Eight Nights of Peace, Love, and Light beginning December 14 through December 21. Sunday, December 14 – Celebrating Family - Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra/Nesin Cultural Arts presents The Toy Symphony & Chanukah Celebrations through Music at Synagogue 3 p.m. –children will receive toy instruments and perform. Suggested donation is to bring a non-perishable item for Little Food Pantry or bring an unwrapped toy for families in need. The Menorah Lighting will take place at Monticello Village Hall – 5 p.m. LAS Lots of Lakes Annual Chanukah Dinner to follow at the Synagogue. RSVP for Dinner to ensure seating – Adults $25, Children 12 and under $12, Family/Special Needs Price available – Contact 845-794-8470.

Condolences to the Rodriguez family on the loss of patriarch Dr. Louis Rodriguez, a doctor who cared for so many in Sullivan County, providing to all regardless of financial means. A man of honor and true pillar of our community. May his memory be for a blessing.

Steve and George Nikolados with staff from the Miss Monticello Diner collaborate with Sullivan Central Rotary Club Member Dawn Roemer, Club Secretary Alyssa Wowk, and Club Executive Secretary Lori Orestano-James to package and deliver prepared Thanksgiving Dinners complete with soup and dessert to families in need for Thanksgiving. The event was organized in conjunction with Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay and her staff to locate those in need to ensure all would have a delicious meal for Thanksgiving Day.
