MONTICELLO – The Monticello Central School District celebrated another successful year of athletics during its annual Sports Awards Ceremony, bringing together student-athletes, coaches, families, administrators, and community members to recognize the accomplishments of the 2025-26 school year.

Held before a packed audience, the ceremony honored athletes from a wide range of varsity and junior varsity programs, including boys and girls soccer, cross country, boys and girls tennis, volleyball, football, basketball and football cheer, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, wrestling, girls and boys basketball, indoor track and field, girls and boys golf, baseball, softball, girls and boys track and field, and trap shooting.

Throughout the evening, coaches from each program took the stage to reflect on their teams’ seasons, highlighting memorable moments, individual achievements, and the dedication displayed by their student-athletes throughout the year. Coaches recognized MVP athletes who demonstrated leadership, perseverance, sportsmanship, and commitment both on and off the field of play.

In addition to recognizing individual accomplishments, the event celebrated the collective success of the district’s athletic programs and the hard work put forth by student-athletes throughout the academic year. Administrative staff and athletic department leadership also addressed those in attendance, congratulating athletes on their achievements while thanking coaches, parents, volunteers, and supporters for their continued dedication to Monticello sports.

One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the Male and Female Scholar Athlete Awards, recognizing the student-athletes whose performances, leadership, and academic excellence went above and beyond. The Female Scholar Athlete award went to Reagan Zangla and the Male Scholar Athlete was presented to George Gachechiladze.

Monticello Athletic Director Ryan Jasper had this to say about the event, “We put this together four years ago to celebrate our athletics and all the hard work and dedication from our coaches and  athletes. It was a great night and a great year!”

As the ceremony concluded, athletes, coaches, and families reflected on another memorable year of Panthers’ athletics, one marked by hard work, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom.
