MONTICELLO – On a wet and overcast day at The Monster Golf Club, Monticello and Liberty met for a boys golf match that emphasized a fun and competitive atmosphere. Despite the damp conditions, both teams stayed in good spirits throughout the afternoon as Monticello came away with an 88-100 victory in a scramble-format match.

Monticello was led by strong rounds from Daniel Weyer and Ishaan Padhiar, who each carded 40’s to pace the Panthers. Liberty’s top performances came from Tyler Juron and Jake Cross, who both finished with rounds of 45. The unique scramble format created an upbeat atmosphere throughout the match and gave players from both schools a chance to enjoy a different style of competition than the traditional format.

“It was a great day on the golf course, we are so fortunate to play at The Monster — the people are fantastic and really supportive of our team,” Monticello Coach Chris Russo said. “The kids enjoyed the match and the scramble format made it fun. I enjoyed sharing the course with Coach Hamlin, who does a terrific job with Liberty. We do not normally do scramble format, but it was fun for the kids. Something we will do each year with Liberty — Coach Hamlin donated a dozen golf balls for the winning team — and the kids loved it!”
